![]() ![]() These types of distortions are particularly useful in a variety of situations, from crafting old video game sounds (they used to be played on 8-bit systems), replicating the behavior of vintage sampler that had a 12-bit resolution, like the first Akai samplers, or to add some metallic character to plucks and drums by lowering the sample rate. The Crush Pack includes Bite, a bit and sample rate reduction tool that is ready to degrade your signal or to help you achieve that lofi sound typical of some old-fashioned samplers, Dirt, a more comprehensive distortion unit that can range from warm tones and subtle spectrum enhancement to total signal destruction, and Freak, a ring modulation, frequency shifter and much more.Īs just mentioned, Bite is a sample rate and bit reduction tool. Another aspect that I’d like to mention in advance, is that all of them have very nice presets, convincingly showcasing the tools, from their extremes to more gentle settings and subtle effects. Like the Mod Pack trio of plug-ins, these tools are easy to use, they don’t have a lot of parameters and you can quickly get convincing results. As the name implies, Crush is a toolkit designed for sound crushing, signal transformation, and much more. Like the Mod Pack (reviewed here), the Crush Pack too is made off three different tools, Bite, Dirt, and Freak. Our adventure with Native Instruments effect packs continues, and this time we will explore the Crush Pack. ![]() Native Instruments’ Crush Pack is a suite dedicated to creative signal processing, from distortion and bit crushing, to frequency shifting and radio lofi effects. ![]()
